Health Systems Research Service Merit Review Board

Purpose

To provide advice on the impartial selection of the most meritorious research projects for support by Department of Veterans Affairs’ (VA) research funds and to offer advice for research program officials on program priorities and policies. The Board ensures, through its recommendations, the high quality and mission relevance of VA’s legislatively mandated Office of Research and Development’s (ORD) HSR portfolio which, is focused on research to discover, validate, and optimize the foundational methods
necessary for sustaining learning health systems in real-world care to improve Veteran health. The Board does not consider grants, contracts, or other forms of extramural research.
