CMV builds partnerships with organizations nationwide to expand awareness and access to VA services.
Does CMV host events or outreach activities?
Yes. CMV participates in and supports outreach events nationwise to connect Veterans with VA resources and community partners. Additionally, we host events both locally in Washington D.C. and virtual events to celebrate our Veterans.
How can I request CMV participation for a community event or outreach opportunity?
Please call us at 202-461-6191 or email us at vacocmv@va.gov to request CMV participation. Have available the type of participation you seek: speaking engagement, MVPC support, exhibitor, etc.

Does CMV provide direct benefits or financial assistance?
No. CMV does not provide direct financial assistance or benefits. Instead, we connect Veterans to VA programs, services, and local resources that can provide support.

The CMV works to ensure all Veterans have access to the full range of VA benefits and services. CMV identifies and addresses barriers that may impact access and partners across VA and communities to improve outcomes for Veterans.

Why was CMV created?
CMV was established by Public Law 103-446 § 509 on November 2, 1994, in response to low utilization of VA benefits and services by minority Veterans.

While Public Law 103-446 § 509 was established in response to low utilization of VA benefits and services by minority Veterans, CMV works to ensure access for all Veterans by identifying and addressing barriers that may affect underserved communities.
Who does CMV serve?
CMV serves ALL Veterans, with a focus on identifying and addressing barriers that may impact underserved populations, including minority Veterans.
Public Law 103-446 § 510 establishes the Advisory Committee on Minority Veterans, which further defines a minority Veteran as:
an individual who is—
“(1) Asian American;
“(2) Black;
“(3) Hispanic;
“(4) Native American (including American Indian, Alaskan
Native, and Native Hawaiian); or
