NVAHCA collections are divided into Record Groups according to Administration. Collections available to the public all have a finding aid.

Tips for using Finding Aids

All our finding aids are formatted the same way and OCR’d for text-searchability.

  • File names are left as they were created, including typos and acronyms.
  • Textual and electronic records are in separate sections.
  • Box/folder lists refer to textual records, File/folder lists refer to electronic records.
  • Textual records are processed to the folder level. This means that we have documented the folder title, but not every page contained within the folder (called the “item level.”) If items that may be of particular interest are found during processing, they are noted with an asterisk (*) by the title.
  • Electronic records may contain more item level material depending on how they were kept by the records creator.
