Homeless Veterans who are <a href=\"https:\/\/www.va.gov\/health-care\/eligibility\/\" rel=\"noopener\">eligible for VA health care<\/a> have access to VA hospitals, outpatient clinics, and community care.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">In fact, this pairing of housing assistance and VA health care is what makes VA so effective in supporting Veterans transitioning out of homelessness toward independence.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:25px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer wp-container-content-c00f5982\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Housing-focused services + health care = success<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Unlike other housing programs that ignore the root causes of homelessness, VA homeless programs actively engage Veterans with a full complement of wraparound services, while leveraging VA\u2019s integrated health care system, to address the whole person.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">That\u2019s why when Veterans enroll in VA homeless programs, we do everything we can to make sure they access all of the treatment, health care, and benefits they\u2019re entitled to under the law.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">VA homeless programs serve over 320,000 Veterans annually through:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/department.va.gov\/homeless\/how-does-va-help-veterans-at-risk-of-homelessness\/\"><strong>Prevention services<\/strong><\/a> that keep Veterans from becoming homeless.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/department.va.gov\/homeless\/hchv\/\"><strong>Outreach services<\/strong><\/a> that are the front doors to both VA homeless programs and the broader VA health care system.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/department.va.gov\/homeless\/what-is-interim-housing\/\"><strong>Residential services<\/strong><\/a> that provide temporary placement, in the form of emergency or transitional housing, for Veterans who need a place to stay right now.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/department.va.gov\/homeless\/what-is-permanent-housing\/\"><strong>Permanent housing services<\/strong><\/a> that connect Veterans to affordable housing in their communities.
