Chuck Cunningham serves as the Director of State, Local, and International Affairs at the Department of Veterans Affairs, where he strengthens government partnerships and facilitates collaboration between the VA and state, county, municipal, and international governments.
With over forty years of executive experience in the political and non-profit sectors, he previously served as senior advisor for Intergovernmental and External Affairs at the U.S. Department of Energy in 2020. Chuck was Senior Vice President for Government Relations and External Affairs at Securing America’s Future Energy from 2015-2020. He was Director of Federal Affairs and, also Director of State and Local Affairs at the National Rifle Association, where he started in 1984.
Chuck graduated with Bachelor of Science degrees in Political Science and Public Administration from James Madison University.
