Curt Cashour

Curt Cashour began his tenure as VA chief of staff in February 2026. In that role, he serves the top advisor to VA’s secretary and helps guide all aspects of the department’s operations.

Cashour brings more than 20 years of experience advising presidential candidates, cabinet secretaries, congressional leaders, battlefield generals and industry groups. He previously served the department as assistant secretary for public and intergovernmental affairs and senior advisor to the secretary. During the first Trump Administration, he worked as VA’s deputy assistant secretary for public affairs and press secretary.

Cashour served as communications director for the House Committee on Veterans’ Affairs, where he spearheaded communication efforts that helped lead to the passage of landmark VA reform legislation, the Veterans Access, Choice and Accountability Act. Additionally, he was deputy communications director for Gov. Scott Walker’s presidential campaign and Virginia communications director for Gov. Mitt Romney’s 2012 presidential bid.

Earlier in his career, Cashour worked as managing director of the political and issue-advocacy advertising firm, Revolution Agency. There, he produced advertising for dozens of candidates and causes across the country.

Cashour is a graduate of Ohio University, an Army and Iraq War veteran, and a recipient of the military’s Bronze Star and Meritorious Service medals. He lives in Alexandria, Va., with his wife and son.
