Ms. Sandra D. Flint was appointed the Acting Principal Deputy Under Secretary for Benefits on June 6, 2025. In this role, she assists in the oversight of more than 35,000 Veterans Benefits Administration (VBA) employees in the delivery of non-medical benefits to Service members, Veterans, their families, and survivors. VBA provides disability compensation benefits to 6 million Veterans and their survivors and administers pension benefits for nearly 300,000 Veterans and their survivors. Through a nationwide network of 56 regional offices, special processing centers, and VBA headquarters, she oversees the execution of $194 billion in direct benefits to Veterans and their dependents.

Before assuming the role of Acting Principal Deputy Under Secretary, Ms. Flint served as the Acting Deputy Under Secretary for Field Operations from March until May 2025.

Ms. Flint was appointed Director of VBA’s Continental District in 2015. As Director of the Continental District, she is responsible for the oversight and delivery of compensation, vocational rehabilitation, and home loan guaranty benefits for the nine regional offices in this district, which includes Montana, Utah, Wyoming, Colorado, Oklahoma, Arkansas, Texas, Louisiana, and Mississippi. This also consists of a fiduciary hub administering the accounts for over 31,000 Veterans and their fiduciaries in all 12 western states. Prior to this appointment, Ms. Flint was the director at the VA Regional Office in Phoenix, Arizona.

Ms. Flint’s professional certifications include a certificate in Public Leadership from the Brookings Institution and a certificate of completion in the VA Senior Executive Strategic Leadership Course from the University of North Carolina Kenan-Flagler Business School.

Ms. Flint is the recipient of the Meritorious Executive President Rank Award.
