Community Care partnerships

VA works with community providers in different ways, depending on the provider type and how care is arranged. Below are three common ways providers may work with VA to deliver care to Veterans.

Community Care Network

The Community Care Network (CCN) is VA’s main contracted network of community providers. In most cases, when VA authorizes a Veteran to receive care in the community, that care is delivered through CCN.

Veteran Care Agreements

Veteran Care Agreements (VCA) are agreements VA uses with certain providers who are not part of CCN. VA uses them in limited situations when CCN is not available or cannot meet a Veteran’s care needs.

American Indian/Alaska Native reimbursement agreements

This program allows VA to reimburse eligible Indian Health Service, Tribal Health Program, and Urban Indian Organization facilities for care they provide to eligible American Indian and Alaska Native Veterans.
