Rita Grewal is the Acting Director, VA Privacy Service and Branch Chief, VA Privacy Risk Management and Compliance. She has 30 years of experience with VA in many roles including Chief Health Information Management, Privacy and Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) Officer, Records Management Officer, and Veterans Equitable Resource Allocation (VERA) Coordinator. Ms. Grewal has been dynamic in leading various VA enterprise-wide privacy initiatives including the Electronic Health Record implementation, privacy risk assessment, compliance, and VA Social Security Number reduction efforts. She provides privacy advisory and consultation services to employees at all levels within VA, Veterans, and the public.

Ms. Grewal received her Bachelor of Science degree (Health Information Management) from George Washington University and Master of Business Association (Healthcare Administration) from Shenandoah University in Winchester, VA. She is a member or the American Health Information Management Association (AHIMA) and is a Registered Health Information Administrator (RHIA). She is a Certified Information Privacy Professional for Government (CIPP/G) and a member of the International Association of Privacy Professionals (IAPP).
