Report Privacy Complaints As Soon As Possible!
Follow These Steps to Report a Privacy Complaint
Step 1. Locate and Contact Your Local Privacy Officer
Report the privacy complaint to your local Privacy Officer immediately in person, or by encrypted email or phone.
Please use the Find VA Locations Tool to find your local VA Facility by entering your location (street, city, state, or postal code) and facility type, then click search to find the relevant facilities.
- If you are looking for a VA health facility, select VA health.
- If you are looking for a VA regional benefits office, select VA benefits.
After you have located your VA health or regional benefits facility, call the listed main number and request for the local privacy officer.
For the National Cemetery Administration, contact their Privacy Office at CEMNCAPrivacy@va.gov.
Step 2. Provide as much detail as possible
- Your name
- Contact information
- Location
- Date of suspected privacy violation
- What happened? E.g. you received another individual’s information or witnessed another individual accessing information

If you were unable to find your local Privacy Officer using the Find VA Locations Tool, contact the appropriate VA Administration Office below specific to your privacy complaint. Each can assist you in determining the appropriate Privacy contact to handle your concern.
