Veterans and Community Oversight and Engagement Board

The Veterans and Community Oversight and Engagement Board (VCOEB), established for the West Los Angeles Campus, provides the community with opportunities to collaborate and communicate through public forums with a focus on local VA health care, benefits, and memorial services.

Purpose

To solicit input from a full range of stakeholders and provide advice and make recommendations to the Secretary of Veterans Affairs in determining how best to use the greater Los Angeles Campus in a Veteran-centric manner, so Veterans living on or visiting the campus will be able to experience superior care, support, convenience, and customer service.

President Donald J. Trump signed an Executive Order to provide better care to our Veterans, improve accountability for such care, and establish a National Center for Warrior Independence for homeless Veterans.

Background

The VCOEB is a statutory board established by Public Law 114-226 (West Los Angeles Leasing Act of 2016) on September 29, 2016. In 2017, VA launched the VCOEB Federal Advisory Committee, which is charged with providing advice to the Secretary of Veterans Affairs related to:

  • Identifying the goals of the community and Veteran partnership,
  • Improving services and outcomes for Veterans, members of the Armed Forces, and their families, and
  • Implementing the Draft Master Plan approved by the Secretary on January 28, 2016, as well as on the creation and implementation of any successor master plans.

Meetings

The VCOEB typically meets two to four times a year. Meeting materials—including agendas, minutes, presentations, and approved recommendations—are available below for download.
