Deeneen Akeo, Associate Executive Director, Procurement Policy, Systems, and Oversight

Ms. Deeneen Akeo was appointed Associate Executive Director, Procurement Policy, Systems and Oversight at the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) on April 11, 2021. She is responsible for managing and overseeing critical aspects of the Department-wide procurement program, one of the largest in the Federal government. In this capacity, she provides a full range of programmatic and oversight duties including formulating VA-wide procurement doctrine and policy; developing and maintaining acquisition enterprise level automated business systems; developing and implementing acquisition risk management, quality assurance, and compliance activities; and managing the Contracting Officer Warranting Program.

Prior to her appointment, Ms. Akeo served as the Director, Architecture and Engineering Service and Director of Enterprise Architecture in the VA Office of Information and Technology (OIT). She established the VA Enterprise Architecture program and was the authority on planning, development, maintenance, integration and implementation of enterprise architecture and engineering practices to drive transformation and modernization initiatives across the VA.

Previously, at the Department of Defense (DoD), she served as the Senior Enterprise Architect for the DoD Chief Management Office (DCMO), the Business Enterprise Architecture (BEA) Chief Enterprise Architect for the Business Transformation Agency (BTA) and in various management positions leading business transformation and information management and technology initiatives across the DoD.

Ms. Akeo is a Certified Enterprise Architect and earned the Excellence in Enterprise Architecture Award in 2007.
