VISN 12, a group of eight VA medical centers and more than 40 VA clinics, is dedicated to providing a comprehensive health care package to America’s Veterans. We serve Veterans who reside in Illinois, the Upper Peninsula of Michigan, Wisconsin, and northwestern Indiana.

Dr. Zomchek was appointed Veterans Integrated Service Network (VISN) 12 Director on September 25, 2022. In this role, he oversees 8 medical centers, 40 outpatient clinics, 8 nursing homes, and 7 domiciliaries, offering health care services to almost 800,000 Veterans who reside in its 4-state (Illinois, Wisconsin, Michigan’s Upper Peninsula and Northwest Indiana) area. Prior to assuming the Network Director role, Dr. Zomchek served as Acting Network Director from May through September of 2022. Prior to that, he served as Director of the Clement J. Zablocki VA Medical Center in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, where he oversaw the delivery of health care to more than 107K Veterans and was responsible for an operating budget of $730M and a workforce of approximately 4,100 personnel.
Previously, Dr. Zomchek also served as the Associate Director of the Edward Hines Jr. VA Medical Center and the Associate Director at the Edith Nourse Rogers Memorial VA Medical Center in Bedford, Massachusetts. Additionally, he served as a Health Systems Specialist for the Veterans Integrated Service Network of Ohio (VISN 10), where he managed various programs and initiatives across a network of five medical centers. While in his position at VISN 10, Dr. Zomchek served as Acting Associate Director of the Iron Mountain VA Medical Center in Iron Mountain, Michigan and as Acting Sub-Initiative Lead for one of the Secretary’s Major Transformation Initiatives.
Dr. Zomchek is a Certified Mentor and is board-certified in Healthcare Management as a Fellow of the American College of Healthcare Executives.

Ms. Valerie Adegunleye was appointed as Veterans Integrated Service Network (VISN) 12 Acting Deputy Network Director, effective September 18, 2025.
Ms. Adegunleye has served as the VISN 12 Assistant Director to the Deputy Network Director (DND) since December 5, 2021. In this role, she oversees the VISN Safety and Occupational Health team, Designated Learning Officer and a Management and Program Analyst. She also serves as the lead for Nutrition & Food Services, Environmental Management Services, Veterans Canteen Services and Center for Development and Civic Engagement throughout the VISN. As the Assistant Director to the DND, she assists all program areas within the Deputy Network Directors oversight.
Ms. Adegunleye joined the VA in 2007 as a Registered Dietitian for the Washington DC VA Medical Center. She became the Clinical Nutrition Manager in 2008 at the VA Maryland Healthcare System in Baltimore, Maryland, and subsequently the Site Manager at the same facility in 2010, where she was a member of the team that implemented its VA Gourmet room service dining program. In 2014, she relocated to VISN 12 as the Chief of Nutrition and Food Services at Edward Hines Jr. VA Hospital in Hines, Illinois, where she remained until assuming her current role.
Ms. Adegunleye was recognized as “Young Dietitian of the Year” from the Maryland Dietetic Association in 2010. She completed the Hines Leadership Development Program in 2015, the VISN 12 Leadership Development Program in 2023 and is a 2024 graduate of Leadership VA. Ms. Adegunleye became a Certified Change Practitioner in 2022 and has served as a VHA Coach/Mentor for over a decade.

Gregg Meekins, MD, was appointed Chief Medical Officer for Veterans Integrated Service Network (VISN) 12 on April 24, 2022. In this role, he leads clinical care delivery coordination the Network.
Dr. Meekins had a wide range of VA experience, including Chief of Staff at the Tomah VA Medical Center in Tomah, Wisconsin, and Section Chief of Neurology at the Minneapolis VA Medical Center. He is a diplomat of the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology (ABPN) with added subspecialty qualifications in Epilepsy, Clinical Neurophysiology and Neuromuscular Diseases.
Dr. Meekins earned his B.S. from Seattle University and his M.D. from Tulane University, and performed his residency in Neurology at the University of Washington and fellowship in Clinical Neurophysiology/Neuromuscular Diseases at the University of Utah. He completed a Senior Executive Fellowship with Harvard University, Kennedy School of Government and has held academic appointments as an Associate Professor of Neurology with the University of Minnesota and University of Washington Schools of Medicine.

Dr. Tandria M. Williams was appointed Chief Nursing Officer for the Veterans Integrated Service Network (VISN) 12 on January 26, 2025. In this senior executive role, she assists in providing oversight for a complex healthcare system encompassing eight medical centers, 40 outpatient clinics, eight community living centers, and seven domiciliaries, collectively serving nearly 800,000 Veterans across Illinois, Wisconsin, Northwest Indiana, and Michigan’s Upper Peninsula.
Dr. Williams began her VA career in 2006 as a nursing assistant. Her leadership journey has included service as a staff nurse and Assistant Nurse Manager in Medical/Oncology Services; Nurse Manager for Progressive Care and Medical-Surgical Services; and Chief Nurse/Division Manager for Acute Outpatient Nursing Services. Between 2021 and 2024, Dr. Williams served as the Associate Director for Patient Care Services at the Clement J. Zablocki VA Medical Center in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, where she directed a broad portfolio of programs, including Nursing Practice, Social Work Services, Rehabilitation Services, Nutrition & Food Services, and Sterile Processing.
Dr. Williams earned her PhD in Nursing from the University of Wisconsin. She also holds dual Master’s degrees in Nursing and Health Administration from the University of Phoenix and a Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Mount Mary University. She is a graduate of the VA Health Care Leadership Development Program (HCLDP) and holds a Certification in Executive Nursing Practice.
