Ms. Valerie Adegunleye was appointed as Veterans Integrated Service Network (VISN) 12 Acting Deputy Network Director, effective September 18, 2025.
Ms. Adegunleye has served as the VISN 12 Assistant Director to the Deputy Network Director (DND) since December 5, 2021. In this role, she oversees the VISN Safety and Occupational Health team, Designated Learning Officer and a Management and Program Analyst. She also serves as the lead for Nutrition & Food Services, Environmental Management Services, Veterans Canteen Services and Center for Development and Civic Engagement throughout the VISN. As the Assistant Director to the DND, she assists all program areas within the Deputy Network Directors oversight.
Ms. Adegunleye joined the VA in 2007 as a Registered Dietitian for the Washington DC VA Medical Center. She became the Clinical Nutrition Manager in 2008 at the VA Maryland Healthcare System in Baltimore, Maryland, and subsequently the Site Manager at the same facility in 2010, where she was a member of the team that implemented its VA Gourmet room service dining program. In 2014, she relocated to VISN 12 as the Chief of Nutrition and Food Services at Edward Hines Jr. VA Hospital in Hines, Illinois, where she remained until assuming her current role.
Ms. Adegunleye was recognized as “Young Dietitian of the Year” from the Maryland Dietetic Association in 2010. She completed the Hines Leadership Development Program in 2015, the VISN 12 Leadership Development Program in 2023 and is a 2024 graduate of Leadership VA. Ms. Adegunleye became a Certified Change Practitioner in 2022 and has served as a VHA Coach/Mentor for over a decade.
