Dr. Moore currently serves as the Chief Nursing Officer for VA Sierra Pacific Network (VISN 21). Since April 2023, she has served as the top executive for nursing and other patient care services, and a key member of the senior executive leadership team that leads the organization in strategic planning, organizational assessment, program development and evaluation, and policy development and execution. She has the accountability for ensuring across the network the establishment of standards of nursing practice and ensuring these standards are met. While in this role, she served as the executive leader for the successful implementation and activation of the “VISN 21 VA Health Connect Clinical Contact Center.”
Dr. Moore began her VA career in 2004 at the Birmingham VA Medical Center in Birmingham, Alabama and has since held various leadership roles in VHA. In 2024, she served as the Interim Medical Center Director at the VA Central California Health Care System in Fresno, California . Prior to her VISN appointment, Dr. Moore previously served as the Chief of Quality, Safety, and Value (QSV) at the VA Palo Alto Health Care System. Prior to this appointment, Dr. Moore served as the Associate Director of Patient Care Services/Nurse Executive & Deputy Associate Director of Patient Care Services/Nurse Executive at the VA Sierra Nevada Health Care System in Reno, Nevada from November 2016 to April 2021.
Dr. Moore graduated from the University of Alabama at Birmingham with her Bachelor of Science in Nursing 2004. Dr. Moore completed a Master’s degree in Nursing from the University of Alabama in 2012 and she completed her Doctor of Nursing Practice in 2020 with a focus in Healthcare Systems Leadership from Chamberlain University. Throughout her career, Dr. Moore has served on several committees and as a member of various professional and civic organizations such as: American College of Healthcare Executives, High Reliability Steering Committee, University of Nevada School of Nursing Community Advisory Board, Nurse Professional Standards Board, Education & Training Committee, Nurse Clinical Practice Council, Medical Records Committee, Sigma Theta Tau, Alabama State Nurses Association, Golden Key Honors Society, and The Belles. She has participated in the Senior Executive Assessment Program, National Leadership Assessment Program, Federal Executive Institute-Leadership for a Democratic Society (FEI-LDS) and is a VHA Certified Mentor. Dr. Moore is a Senior Executive Series Candidate Development Program, Graduate, QRB-Certified executive leader who is Lean Black Belt Trained and a certified Change Management Practitioner.
Finally, Dr. Moore is a native Alabamian and who is married with two children and two grandchildren. Her passion and commitment to service is rooted in her extensive family history consisting of Veterans who have answered the call to serve.
