Larry L. Brown, M.D. was appointed the Chief Medical Officer on September 27, 2020. As senior medical officer for the VA Midwest Health Care Network (VISN 23), he has oversight responsibility for the provision of health care provided through an integrated system of nine hospitals, sixty-three community-based outpatient or outreach clinics, eight community living centers and four domiciliary residential rehabilitation treatment programs.
The Network serves more than 440,000 enrolled Veterans residing in the states of Iowa, Minnesota, Nebraska, North Dakota, South Dakota and portions of Illinois, Kansas, Missouri, Wisconsin, and Wyoming. Dr. Brown has been active in research and education. He has served as Faculty at Creighton University School of Medicine and has also served as a principal investigator on many funded research projects.
