Advisory Committee on Cemeteries and Memorials - Flags adorn the graves of American soldiers killed during the Battle of Gettysburg, fought July 1-3, 1863 between the Union Army of the Potomac and the Confederate Army of Northern Virginia. The soldiers are buried in the National Cemetery at Gettysburg, Pennsylvania.

Purpose

To advise the Secretary of Veterans Affairs on the administration of VA national cemeteries, Soldiers’ lots and plots, the selection of cemetery sites, the erection of appropriate memorials and the adequacy of Federal burial benefits.
