Cheryl J. Rawls was appointed as Executive Director for the Office of Equity Assurance on December 3, 2023. She is responsible for assessing VBA programs, processes, and procedures to promote benefits equity for Veterans, their families, survivors, and caregivers.
She represents VA and serves as liaison with other governmental and non-governmental organizations working on achieving benefits equity. She champions efforts to address equity through education, training, studies, and initiatives to bring synergy throughout benefits delivery.
She previously served as the Executive Director of Outreach, Transition and Economic Development overseeing programs and initiatives aimed at helping Transitioning Service members, Veterans, and their families at over 300 installations worldwide and VA’s outreach special emphasis programs, including former Prisoners of War, female, homeless, minority, rural, and elderly.
