Aaron Scheinberg was appointed by President Biden to serve as the Deputy Assistant Secretary, Office of Congressional and Legislative Affairs (OCLA) in 2023. In this position, he leads the management and oversight of the day-today congressional and legislative activities for Department of Veterans Affairs. He provides advice and support to VA personnel, the Secretary, and VA senior leaders on congressional and legislative affairs matters affecting the Department of Veterans Affairs. Mr. Scheinberg was previously appointed to Senior Advisor to the Secretary for OCLA.
Before joining the VA, Mr. Scheinberg was an advisor to Senator Joe Manchin, leading the West Virginia senator’s team on Veterans and broadband internet policy. He previously helped to lead Senator Manchin’s re-election campaign in West Virginia as a state organizer. Before the Senate race, Mr. Scheinberg was a candidate for Congress in West Virginia’s 2nd Congressional District and received bi-partisan endorsements from Veterans groups and advocates across the country.
Mr. Scheinberg is a West Point graduate and an Army Veteran. During his military career, Aaron was a tank commander, platoon leader, and Civil Affairs commander with the 4th Infantry Division. He deployed to Southern Baghdad and the Babil Province (Operation Iraqi Freedom: 05-07) leading an infantry platoon and earned the Bronze Star. As a Civil Affairs Officer in the region, he managed the development of a 200,000-person city in Haswah, Iraq.
After the Army, Mr. Scheinberg was a Senior Consultant for Deloitte Consulting LLP. Mr. Scheinberg then helped to build and lead The Mission Continues, a national Veterans nonprofit. There he helped thousands of Veterans reintegrate to civilian life by leading community development projects across the U.S.
