Ann E. Doran, MHSM, MPA, CPHQ, CPHRM is the Executive Director, Office of Patient Advocacy, Veterans Health Administration. She is responsible for overseeing and driving critical strategies toward VHA’s cultural transformation, improving the Veterans’ experience, and delivering an exceptional advocacy program.
Prior to this appointment, Ms. Doran was the Vice President of Quality Management for Auburn Community Hospital in Auburn, N.Y. In this position, Ms. Doran provided direct oversight for all quality, patient safety, risk management, patient advocacy, infection control, social work, and case management programs. Ms. Doran held positions as System Director of Risk Management & Patient Safety for Bassett Healthcare and was Director of Quality & Risk Management for Holly Hill Psychiatric Hospital in Raleigh NC, giving her over 23 years of experience in healthcare quality, risk management and patient advocacy.
Ms. Doran is a retired Chief Petty Officer, Hospital Corpsman, USN (AW, FMF). She was stationed in San Diego, CA. Camp Pendleton, CA, Bethesda, MD, USNS (T-AH 20) COMFORT, Diego Garcia, Camp LeJeune, NC, and Cherry Point, NC. She is a Persian Gulf War Veteran.
She is a certified professional in Healthcare Quality and Healthcare Risk Management as well as certified in Healthcare Administration by Cornell University. She is a member of the National Association of Healthcare Quality, American Society of Healthcare Risk Management, and American College of Healthcare Executives.
