Eddie Pool currently leads the daily operations of the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) technology and cybersecurity programs, managing a budget of more than $7 billion. He oversees a team of approximately 16,000 federal employees and contractors, all focused on supporting the delivery of health care and benefits to over ten million enrolled Veterans.

Before stepping into his role as Acting Chief Information Officer, Mr. Pool held several key leadership positions within VA, including Deputy CIO for Connectivity and Collaboration Services, Executive Director for Solution Delivery, and Executive Director for Infrastructure Operations. He has also served as a Senior Advisor to both the Principal Deputy Assistant Secretary and the Deputy Assistant Secretary for Service Delivery and Engineering.

A proud Army Veteran, Mr. Pool served with distinction in the 1st Battalion, 75th Ranger Regiment, and the 3-15 Infantry of the 24th Infantry Division, completing two combat deployments to Somalia and Haiti. He concluded his military service with the 1/9 Infantry in South Korea.

Mr. Pool began his federal career with the VA in 1998 as an Information Technology Specialist through the Federal work-study program. In 2001, he joined the U.S. Small Business Administration, where he later became Senior Advisor to the Associate Administrator and Director for Information and Technology. Outside of work, Mr. Pool is a dedicated volunteer with organizations such as Team Rubicon, Team River Runner, and the Three Rangers Foundation. He remains deeply committed to supporting Veterans, with a personal mission to reduce suicide in the warfighter community and improve access to VA programs and services.
