Rashmi Matarese was appointed as Senior Management Advisor to the Deputy Under Secretary for Field Operations on April 12, 2020. In this role she advises the Deputy Under Secretary and other agency executives on benefits delivery, providing day-to-day leadership on technical and operational matters. She also determines short- and long-range plans to achieve organizational objectives affecting the 4 District Offices and 56 Regional Offices within the Veterans Benefit Administration (VBA).
Prior to her appointment, Matarese served as a Senior Operations Research Analyst in the Operations Analysis division in the Office of Field Operations. She implemented and maintained two agency systems used for employee workload management and resource tracking, as well as informed legislative proposals, performance expectations, and resource allocation through data analytics. Prior to joining VBA, Matarese served in various civilian positions within the Department of the Army, from modelling Army ground vehicle components to budget and execution oversight of the Army’s $20B research and procurement budget.
Matarese was awarded the Department of the Army’s Superior Civilian Service Award in 2015.
