VHA top priorities

Ensure timely access to care and benefits

We are committed to delivering prompt and reliable access to health care and earned benefits for every eligible Veteran, family member, caregiver, and survivor.

Drive innovation and challenge the status quo

We will continuously seek smarter and more effective ways to serve Veterans. This includes embracing innovation, streamlining processes, and removing barriers to care and benefits.

Expand health care choice by strengthening VA capabilities

Veterans have earned the right to choose their health care. We will expand access to high-quality options while continuing to invest in and enhance VA’s direct care infrastructure and services.

Put Veterans at the center of all we do

Every decision and action at VA will be guided by the needs and experiences of Veterans. We will prioritize exceptional customer service and make it easier for Veterans to access the support they deserve.

Empower and hold accountable our workforce

We will recognize and celebrate the dedication of the vast majority of VA employees who serve with excellence. At the same time, we will hold individuals accountable when performance does not meet the mission.

Reach and support Veterans at risk

We will intensify our efforts to identify and support Veterans who are at risk of homelessness or suicide. This includes reaching those who have not yet engaged with VA services to ensure no Veteran is left behind.
