The VA Law Enforcement Training Center (LETC) is VA’s premier police training institute. Mission

To provide high-quality law enforcement training for those who protect Veterans, staff, visitors, and infrastructure on the Department of Veterans Affairs’ properties, as well as that of other government agencies with limited jurisdictions.

Activities

Develops VA law enforcement training program requirements, associated policies, and standard operating procedures. Provides technical advice, guidance and leadership to VA facility managers and Police Service Chiefs concerning training program requirements and policies. Provides training that ensures students possess knowledge, skills, and ability to apply Federal statutes, case law, agency regulations and procedures, focusing on high liability areas such as arrest, search and seizure and their related Constitutional safeguards.

Business Functions

  1. Train Federal law enforcement officers, which includes VA Police and Department of the Air Force police personnel.
  2. Train non-law enforcement VA personnel in areas of De-Escalation, Physical Security, Administrative Investigations, Leadership, etc.
