2026 VA Survey of Veteran Enrollees’ Health and Use of Health Care

2026 VA Survey of Veteran Enrollees’ Health and Use of Health Care Begins August 14, 2026

The Veteran Health Administration’s Executive Office of Strategic Planning (formerly the Chief Strategy Office) is conducting the 2026 VA Survey of Veteran Enrollees’ Health and Use of Health Care (Survey of Enrollees), a national survey that aims to provide critical and essential information on Veteran utilization of health services. This information supports annual VHA projections of enrollment, utilization, and expenditures, as well as a variety of high level VHA budget and policy related analyses. Survey results are used to help improve VA Health Care services and better anticipate the health care needs of all Veterans.

In total, the survey will collect information on a random sample of at least 42,000 Veterans enrolled in VA health care. Selected Veterans will be invited to complete the survey online or, if they prefer, a paper survey will be mailed to them to complete and return in a provided postage-paid envelope.

Enrolled Veterans selected for the survey will receive an invitation letter that provides information about the survey in the mail, directing them where and how to access the survey. Participation in the survey is voluntary.

Full initiation of the survey will begin on August 14, 2026, and continue through early October 2026.

The 2026 Survey of Enrollees is being conducted on behalf of VA by Reef Point Group, and its partner Vistra Federal. Both are service-disabled Veteran-owned small businesses.

Supporting this survey will help ensure that we provide the best care possible for our enrollees, where it is needed, and when it is needed.

The 2025 Survey of Enrollees findings report is available at: 2025 Survey of Enrollees Final Report .
