Office of Acquisition and Logistics

OAL protects the integrity of the procurement and supply system and is organizationally independent of the activities it serves.  It is comprised of 4 major organizational components.

Our offices

The Office of Acquisition and Logistics consists of four major organizational components which allow us to support Department’s administrations and staff offices, helping them accomplish their missions. We also hold oversight responsibilities on behalf of the Secretary to ensure VA complies with laws, policies and directives from executive branch partners such as the Office of Management and Budget, Department of Treasury, General Services Administration, Government Accountability Office, and Congress.

The Office of Acquisition Program Support (APS) provides executive direction for acquisition efforts focused on workforce development, human resources liaison requirements, facilities and emergency preparedness.

The Office of Procurement Policy, Systems and Oversight (PPSO) provides leadership and management for a full range of programmatic and oversight duties related to the acquisition lifecycle.

The Logistics and Supply Chain Management staff are responsible for VA logistics policy development, enforcement, coordination, and training.

Recognized as an industry leader in training and development for the Federal Acquisition workforce through our five professional schools.

Public Law 102-585

Stipulated in Public Law 102-585, Section 603 all brand name drugs must be made available for purchase under the 65 I B Schedule program at a not to exceed price as a condition for receiving payment from certain entities.

Suspension and Debarment

The Suspension and Debarment (S&D) Committee, within the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA), reviews all procurement related referrals for suspension and debarment actions.
